The governor of Connecticut has tested positive, and says he will be isolated.

The highly contagious Omicron subvariant, known as BA.2, became the dominant version in the new US four months after it was first identified in the country. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimated Tuesday that BA.2 was responsible for about 72 percent of new U.S. cases in the week ending April 2.

As of Wednesday, there were an average of 489 new virus cases per day in Connecticut in the previous week. New cases have risen 56 percent in the past two weeks, according to a New York Times database.
