Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is expected to miss the rest of the regular season after suffering a sprained ligament in his left leg. The team announced on Friday. The plan at the moment is that Curry will continue his rehabilitation and begin personal proceedings in court next week as he returns to practice based on his continued progress.
Towards the end of the second quarter of their March 16 match against the Boston Celtics at the Chase Center, Marcus got into a collision with Smart Curry when the Celtic guard dove fell to the floor for a loose ball. Curry had to check out of the game and did not return.
After the Warriors lost 110-88, coach Steve Kerr called Smart’s dive “dangerous.” She too Smart directly expresses his annoyance during the game. “He’s a player, a gamer, a competitor,” she told reporters. “I coached him at the World Cup a few summers. We talked after the game and we’re fine. But I thought it was a dangerous drama. “
For the Golden State, a sprained ligament is far from the worst outcome – Athletic described Diagnosis as a sigh of relief – but losing curry is a significant hazard. There are only five regular-season games left for the Warriors and they wanted to use the last stretch of the regular season to strengthen their rotation and find a rhythm to get to the playoffs. Clay Thompson did not make his debut until January and Drymond Green recently returned from a two-month absence, so Curry has played a total of 11 minutes with both of them this season.
This is a terribly low number, not necessarily for those three champions, but for the rest of the team. What Golden State does in crime revolves around Curry, and what he does is enhanced by Green’s playmaking and Thompson’s movement. The Warriors will play the same style with Curry Out, but it won’t work the same way. This season, with Curry on Court, according to Cleaning the Glass, they have scored 115.2 points per 100 assets, including a +10.2 point differential. Excluding Curry, they scored 107.8 per 100 with a -5.0 point differential. It will be difficult for Kerr’s coaching staff to decide on the play-off rotation, and it will be difficult to judge the many role players competing for the spot if Kari is not on their side.

At 48-29, the Golden State is in fourth place at the Western Conference with a two-game cushion over the Utah Jazz. Green recently said, “Whether we pick No. 2 or No. 3, we’re going to win a championship,” but there are fears that the Warriors could finish less than that. Wherever they end up, though, their challenge is to get together quickly when Curry is able to come back, then try to get to the top at the right time.
In 2016, Curry injured his ankle in Game 1 of the first round series of the Golden State against the Houston Rockets, missed the next two games, and sprained his right knee in Game 4. That knee injury kept him out of the lineup for two weeks, but he returned to the 4th game of the second round against the Portland Trail Blazers. If Curry can bring it back to playoff time, then the timing here isn’t nearly as disruptive. That team, however, finished the best regular season in NBA history and won a championship the previous season. There is much more to find this one.
