There is a refresh on the way to the BMW 1 Series. Along with its quad exhaust tips, these shots show us the updated M135i. However, the brand may revive the M140i name for this model, according to our spies.
Engineers load this 1 Series into disguise, and the covering does a good job of hiding what’s new. The brand usually changes the front facial styling when updating a car, but no adjustments are possible at this time. The headlights seem to have a round, less angular shape than the existing design.
Like most car refreshes, there are no major side effects. The spoiler at the back of the roof appears to have a steep angle.
Like the rest of the car, BMW’s development team patted the back in disguise. The most notable difference is the quad exhaust pipes compared to the existing M135i, in which a single outlet emerges from each corner of the tail.
We’ve seen the last batch of refreshed 1 Series spy shots show a lower performance-centric version. Compared to this, there was a longer ride height and shorter brakes, especially at the rear. These factors make the variant of these new photos more credible as a replacement for the Sporty M135i.
Pictures of the interior of the updated 1 Series are not yet available. It can get the latest iDrive 8 infotainment system to keep the car up to date.
Details about any updates to the Powertrain range are not yet available. Although it’s the M135i (or M140i, BMW whatever you call this model), there’s a rumor that the updated 1 Series range could get a plug-in hybrid.
The release date for the refreshed 1 Series range is still a mystery. Due to the update to the M135i for the 2022 model we do not expect it until 2023.
The previous M140i went out in 2019 with a special edition. It is a turbocharged six-cylinder 3.0-liter engine that drives the rear wheels.
