Not too long ago, Urban Outfitters came out in collaboration with Iconic 80’s brand Laura Ashley. I’ll be completely honest: it wasn’t until I showed the pieces to my mother and aunt that I realized how iconic the brand was – especially to the stylish group of my mother and her friends. Immediately, my mother showed me the photo above of her and one of her best friends dressed as Laura Ashley at a wedding in 1984. How did I respond? Runways are always shaking the festive season of the 80’s, and if the return of the decade is like the 90’s, the resurgence of trends from that time onwards has only begun to steam up. Although the runway is definitely a place where I get inspiration for forward thinking, I decided that when it came to the trend of the 80’s, I would go back to the queen of fashion in her time: my mother. She and my aunt were called “The” Enjoy The sisters are back in high school, so I guess I should give them some credit.
I asked my mom to list all the trends from the 80’s that she thought I could have today. Some of the styles that made his list are quickly cut out of mine, including sweatbands, colored plastic beads, and a few more that I won’t mention.
