Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a list of all software and computer, printer, and network hardware, including serial numbers and ownership records.
  • Help shore IT with application installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting
  • User support:
    • Assist users when needed in all computer based applications
    • Instruct users in basic handling routines such as login, logout, personal file maintenance, printer operation, etc.
    • Provide occasional user training for new applications
    • Monitor and manage users’ data storage requirements to ensure efficient use of resources
    • Use automation tools and monitoring systems to actively monitor and manage user’s computer systems
  • Network Maintenance:
    • Actively monitor the health of all network electronics on a daily basis to ensure maximum uptime
    • Monitor the ship’s wireless network to ensure maximum up time
    • Troubleshoot and maintain all network cabling issues
  • Regular maintenance routine:
    • Perform regular backups of all server based systems
    • Check all ports / terminal hardware (PCs, printers) at each port every morning to ensure proper operation
    • Check all servers to ensure proper operation on a daily basis
    • Install new software if necessary
    • Monitor network storage for inappropriate use (music files, personal photos, etc.)
    • Manage regular cleaning (dust removal, etc.) of all computers and terminals
  • Report any changes to inventory to the Chief Engineer
  • Maintenance and support of Shipboard DECT phone systems
  • Conduct troubleshooting, maintenance, and testing of electronics, computer systems, and software
  • Coordinate with 1st and automation electronics engineers for reliability, integrity and availability of onboard automation systems.
  • Perform additional work responsibilities as determined by the DCL leadership based on operational requirements
  • Comply with all set policies and procedures of the company including all marine and shipping rules, regulations and procedures
  • Participate in the emergency responsibilities mentioned in the ship assembly plan

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite of applications (MS Office, MS Outlook, MS VCO, etc.)
  • Basic concept of Microsoft server operation and troubleshooting
  • Powerful PC setup and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to express thoughts clearly and thoroughly in writing
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Be able to speak, read and write fluent English
  • The desire to live and work on one of our ships for a certain length (based on location)
  • Be able to work 70-84 hours seven days a week, including limited time off
  • Be able to comply with Disney Cruise Line attendance guidelines
  • Enjoy working in a high-volume, fast-paced, guest-service-oriented environment
  • Be flexible with your work schedule, work responsibilities and job locations
  • Appreciate the diversity between guests and crew

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in a related field of information technology or study
  • Familiarity with IT operations in the cruise industry
  • Knowledge of telephony system including VOIP
  • Experience with VMWare virtualization technology
  • Familiarity with computer network operations
  • Introduction to Cisco Network Electronics
  • Introduction to the Fidelio Cruise app
  • Introduction to Micros Point of Sale application

  • Applicants must:
  • Really interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work on a Disney cruise line
  • Commit to the position you are applying for at least 2-3 contracts before transfer or promotion
  • Be willing to follow and perform the safety roles, emergency responsibilities and / or related responsibilities specified in the Ship Assembly Plan
  • Be willing to perform general security management responsibilities assigned to the Safety Management System and be able to operate in areas under their control and
  • Be willing to follow and adopt U.S. public health requirements and guidelines, as well as environmental requirements and company practices.

Your responsibilities:

  • A valid passport and C1 / D Seaman visa (DCL will provide you with documents to get it)
